Violence Prevention

Disclaimer: This page is for adults only. We will touch on heavy topics.

Here at Kindest Kid in the World, we believe that every human being is born good. Everyone is born with a deep and beautiful capacity for kindness. Hate is learned. Hate is taught. No one is born hating another human being.

We are deeply dedicated to doing our part to prevent violence. The question is, how do we get upstream of the problem? How do we help prevent someone from ever identifying as a violent or abusive or hateful person in the first place? Our theory is that if we start with children, who are born with that capacity to be kind, and we teach them psychological tools to help them IDENTIFY as a kind human, then maybe, just maybe, they can prevent the world from teaching them to hate.

We are honored to have a wonderful man named Aaron Stark on our board of advisors. His TEDx talk about how kindness was the one thing that stopped him from his planned school shooting has resonated with 15 million viewers. His powerful story is perfectly aligned with our mission.

How do we prevent violence?

The answer is connection, compassion, empathy, inclusion, understanding, and kindness.

The deeper story behind our mission

Again, disclaimer. This story is heavy and includes the topic of death. This is not a video for children.

Jessie shares the deeper story behind the mission of Kindest kid. In 2024, she lost her lifelong hero, her singing teacher and second mother, Kerilyn Johnson. Her husband tragically murdered her. This devastating experience has propelled Jessie to dive deeper in her doctoral research to understand what leads people down the path of violence. If we lead with curiosity, we can find clues that can help us prevent tragedy.
